Outline on image
I uploaded an image to gimp to use in my logo and I saved it as a jpeg, when I printed it the image and some of the text had an outline to it also. Almost like the image was traced and the color on the inside is lighter. What am doing wrong or is it my printer that is printing the image that way. Please help I am so frustrated.

Did you at some time remove the background?
What was the size / format of the image before you exported in Gimp to a jpeg?
Did you scale the image up before exporting?
Are you trying to print a small image to a large size?
Did you try exporting to some other format such as png?
Without seeing the image difficult to comment but could be jpeg artifacts.

RE: Outline on image
I opened a new image 3600x3600 pixels and 300 ppi with transparent background. I clicked on the text and typed my text, then i added a new layer with the image i changed the color of the image and scaled down the image to fit. I exported the file as png and when I printed it the image looked blurred and the text looked pixelated. I then exported it as jpeg and the image looks good but there is an outline to the image, the text printed fine. When I printed it as an xcf it printed perfectly. So there is something happening to the image when it is being exported. Thank you for your help!

RE: Outline on image
I started off with a transparent background. I clicked on the text icon and typed in the text. I changed the color on it. I didn't resize the text just used the size I picked. Then I added my image as a new layer. I exported it as a png and jpeg. The text prints good as a jpeg but the image and the text that has a different color prints with an outline to it. It looks like I traced the image and the color on the inside prints a lighter shade. When I print it as a png the image looks blurred and the text looks pixelated. I was trying to get a logo that I can scale to add to product tags and business card, so that is why i started out with a 3600x3600. So I thought once it is saved as a png or jpeg you can resize it without it affecting the image.

A biz card, typically about 2" x 3.5" . What size in pixels did you scale down to?

Scaling up or down will degrade your image, as ofnuts post you probably need to create you work in vector graphics. If the logo is not too complicated, then such as Inkscape can convert a bitmap to a vector.

RE: Outline on image
Okay I will try that! So what is happening to the image causing the colors to change when it is getting exported? Because it prints beautiful when it is xcf file. Is inkscape hard to use? Are there any recommendations you could please give as far as pixel size for what I need? Thank you for your help. I have used Gimp for my first logo and I had no issues. I wanted to change my logo's image I have been having so much trouble. I kept the same xcf file just switched out the image and different text.

How do I find if it has a built in color profile?

RE: Outline on image
Look in Image -> Image Properties.

Most commonly it will be sRGB ( the Gimp default) but sometimes differs.. depending on who created the image...
