Open File from external HDD on OSX
Yes, I need REALLY basic stuff. How do I open files from an external HDD? They don't show on the GIMP list and I can't see how to get totem. I can use Finder (on a MacMini with OS10.9.2) but that's clunky and I have to know the file number.

In Windows 7, the removable drives automatically appear in the 'Places' list when they are connected.

See http://docs.gimp.org/2.8/en/gimp-file-open.html for more info on using this dialog.

RE: Open File from external HDD
Make a dedicated folder on your computer, name it by date? (december 2014...) then open your external HDD & copy the images from the drive to the folder on your hard drive.

Either that or the "places" method mentions by FB above. If you have alot of images, it might read faster from the computer, test it out.

RE: Open File from external HDD on OSX
Yes, on OSX and Linux you won't see "drives" like on Windows. So the question is how does an external drive show up in the OSX file system. On Linux you find it under /media...
