Well my computer is broke I had a Linux update, installed everything, even the grub on /dev/sda and when I rebooted I got this problem. (I used the Wubi-Installer for Linux btw, and Windows is on my C drive, and Linux on my D drive)

Hey, sorry to hear about the problem, but I'm sure this is fixable.

I remember experiencing something very similar or even exactly the same few years ago. Back then I was just playing with a lot of different Linux distros, and basically wanted to find the best distro for my then old IBM 600E laptop. My main system was Windows and I got back it by fixing MBR with the help of Windows CD.

From a search in Google for "no such device grub rescue" without quotes I see there are many talks about reinstalling GRUB or even installing LILO, the other Linux boot loader. Take a look, I hope it helps.

I believe I know one way to fix this, but I need a flash drive, cause my cd drive don't work, but if that doesn't work I'm gonna get me a netbook.

RE: No Computer For Awhile! Which means I'm away for awhile!
Well I have a flash drive now, and I installed Linux Ubuntu 10.04 on it, and I was able to boot into Windows, and Linux off that (notice I said "was") I then uninstalled Linux with Wubi, as that's what I used to install it, thinking that may fix the problem, and it didn't. So I then tried using EasyBCD to repair the windows bootloader, and now I'm unable to boot into windows using the flash drive. (when the grub bootloader comes up I can select vista recovery, and boot into it, but now, cause of that problem I can't)

So what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna take my laptop to a computer repair shop out here, and have them fix it. What I'm gonna have them do is fix my CD drive problem as it's undetectable, and even with a working CD drive in it, it still doesn't work, so I'm guessing it may be the motherboard, however I have no idea. I'm also gonna have them completely wipe my hard drive, and reinstall windows vista on the C drive with the drivers, so my computer should be pretty much new, and running perfect, which is the way I want it. If their unable to do so, which I doubt, but if they can't fix it. I will only be using this flash drive to just go on the Internet, as I only have 40MB of free space on it, and it's a 4GB flash drive, and I don't have space for web developing, web designing, or anything so I'll be using the web based operating system Cloudo so I can access my pictures, videos, etc: as well as do my web developing too, and I will also be using Sumo Paint with Cloudo to do my designing. I can't do everything in that, than I can with the gimp, but it'll help with me improving on my painting skills, so I can become a better artist in a field I suck in.
