No brush preview Help please.
It used to be in Gimp 2.8.8 for Mac I would see the preview of the brush as the cursor so I could judge what the size was going to be now in 2.8.10 Mac (running Mavericks).
I have no preview. Just an cross hair and the brush icon. So I have to blindly guess the size of the brush.
Is there a way to get this back? I hope someone can help. Thank you.

This does not work for some reason. Maybe a Mac 10.9.1 Mavericks problem?
I wish it worked it's difficult flying blind so to speak.

RE: No brush preview Help please.
Just from my experience with invisible brushes in Gimp (and maybe 2 cents since you are using the latest mavericks version)

I've seen that minimizing and maximizing or switching focus between apps can re-enable/show the brush preview.

Also, if you copy and paste something, it automatically changes the brush to "Brush: clipboard" which can mess up the brush sometimes.
So check the "Brush:" section under your tool that you're using to ensure you have a hard or soft brush enabled.

Happy New Years!!

"minimizing and maximizing or switching focus between apps can re-enable/show the brush preview." That did not work.Undecided
""Brush:" section under your tool that you're using to ensure you have a hard or soft brush enabled." No joy here either.Paintbrush

I do not have anything remotely OSX to try, so flying as blind as you.

Is there any differnce if cursor rendering is set to black and white rather than fancy.

from the gimp docs.
Cursor rendering

If you choose Fancy here, the cursor is drawn in grayscale. If you choose Black and White it is drawn in a simpler way that may speed things up a little bit if you have speed issues.

No I tried that....Huh don't know why it stopped doing that. I really miss it though.

Hi everybody. Some of you might have noticed, that the latest GIMP 2.8.10 package had a nasty bug. The outline of brushes, pencils, the clone tool and others were not visible. That made it very hard to draw, paint or use the tools accurately.
Although the last release only has an age of 3 days, I‘ve made a new package with the fix, because I think many depend on the painting capabilities. So, go to the download page to get the fix. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Have fun.
