New to Gimp - stuck
Hi,

Im new to Gimp.. I want to move away from windows 100% and use Ubuntu, but I use Adobe Fireworks. That is the only thing that keeps me on that awful OS.

When creating a few test images, recreating images i have made in Firework, the files size of the Gimp images are huge in comparison. One thing i have noticed is for every action i take, the file size grows.

When i make a mistake, which i often do, undoing that action does not reduce the files size. For example, using the gradient tool, when i apply the gradient several times to get the desired effect i find that the image file size is massive.

I have a jpg background image that i created in Fireworks for a website i developed, i optimized this down to 15kb and it looks sharp. In Gimp the jpg file size is 60kb after optimizing, any lower and the image looses clarity.

how can i reduce the image file size back to the kb value it was when i click Edit>Undo

Thanks
M
