Modify Text Color- Text to Path Question
I would like to take some text and modify the color of it toward the bottom of the text. This is to only change text color- not background.
I've found several docs including here saying
"In the toolbox at the bottom of the text tool option click "Path from text" ".
As well as the following Instruction:

It seem with this information I should be able to do it but I can't find Path from Text anywhere...... rrrrrrr
Can someone please help me with this?
then theres the idea of blend vs gradient.. which is which?

Thanks

RE: Modify Text Color- Text to Path Question
: right click on the text layer in the Layers list (must still be in Text form) and select "Text to path".--

How do I find the text layer? I'm a very experienced SW user, but I just can't do anything in Gimp. Your instructions both seem clear enough and specific enough, but as you describe it, I'm not getting the job done..... I'm very frustrated.. and I DO hate complaining. I just don't know what to do...
