Military ribbons
Hello everyone...Im new to forum and pretty much new to gimp. I need some help with painting. I am currently working on military ribbons for a gameing community. However I do not want the paint look. I want a more realistic feel. I'm not sure how or what tools I need. If anyone can provide me this info and point me in the direction...it would be a great help and apreciation. Here is an example og what I need the background to look like.

.     good look
    bad look

To avoid uniform colors, you can try a cloud (Filters/Render/Clouds/plasma or else) rendering in a new layer, blurred and mixed in your layer (amount controlled by the transparency slider) (for instance in "multiply" mode). You can also add noise in a similar manner.

Thanks a mil for the feed back
