Menus
Hello Folks,

I am an absolute beginner to GIMP. I am stuck as to how to find Options and Colour Management on the Menu system as I can find no menu tree in the Help. I should be very grateful if someone would point the way.

Many thanks

I think you are probably looking for the settings dialogues in Edit -> Preferences

Not a bad idea for tool options to set up the tool, font etc you want to start with untick save on exit and click on save options now.

The colour management section is more or less self explanatory
FWIW screenshots of my Gimp.

edit: Gimp help comes as a separate installation, installer type depends on OS. By default Gimp uses online help files which use your internet browser. (so does the installed version)
If you want to look at the help files without starting up Gimp they are here

Many thanks, found it ok. However, I have a weird printing problem. My pale colours are printing out pinkish and it's driving me potty. I have tried 5 programs and 3 computers and the results are much the same even with colour matching disabled at both ends. However the printer prints a perfect light grey page using the Oki CMYK test. I Een disabled colour matching in windows to no effect

Things to check:

Is your printer low on any of the ink cartridges?

Can you duplicate the pinkish print out with other images?

- Did the image originally have pale colors?
(try to darken them in Gimp with "levels" "curves" , "Hue-saturation" or "brightness / contrast")
-----
For clarification: did you try all the computers & programs with the same printer? If so, what is the brand?
Since it persists on every program you use and computer, its either the original image or something with the printer. (i can try to research it a little with more info)

RE: Menus
I am guessing color laser printer.

There are a few similar queries if you google search. No solutions though.
