Making 2.8 Happen
I've used GIMP exclusively for about 10 years, and am currently using it to develop iPhone apps, but I'm frustrated with the delays getting 2.8 out. The gap between Photoshop and GIMP is widening, and I need the features that will be in 2.8.

I got to thinking that it might be possible to get a grant to pay some programmers to work full time on the project for 6-12 months and get GIMP 2.8 out and catch the project up to where it should be. What kind of money do you think it would take to make this happen? I was guessing somewhere in the range of $30,000-$60,000?

It's kind of a crazy idea and I don't know if it's realistic, but I do know of a grant that could possibly fund something like this.

Since I'm developing iPhone apps I need it for Mac, and I have not been able to find a 2.7 build for Mac.

Thanks for the developer list info.
