Mac fonts on a windows
Hi all,

I was wondering (I know it sounds counter intuitive) if its possible to get mac fonts to appear in windows gimp. I'm trying to redo images using gimp on a windows computer that come from .psd files created with a mac. The fonts (though Tahoma in both) don't look remotely similar because mac fonts are different from windows fonts apparently. Is there some sort of workaround I can use in gimp to make them look more similar? The mac font looks so much smoother and "full-er".....I wish i could say the same about the windows one. And yes, I am using the same size, color, and font in both images.

Here they are:

Its close to tahoma bold, but not quite. It's hard to explain...its almost like Tahoma is different on a mac than it is on a pc. The font tool in gimp isnt very powerful..is there a way to possibly make it slightly bold instead of all-the-way bold?

RE: Mac fonts on a windows
Is there not some scaling coming into this.

Those images are very small 200x142 pix, were the psd files larger.

This is a comparison with a regular Tahoma font.

Left is the 'original mac' font size is as far as I can tell 16
Center is the equivalent but 3 times larger, with a font size 49 (was 48 but adjusted to the guides)
Right is the center duplicated and scaled back down to original size.
From what I can see not a lot of difference. The height of the 'f' is the most noticable.

RE: Mac fonts on a windows
I'm afraid not, though you did shed some light on the issue. I think my approach will be to blow up the text, do some manual modification, then shrink it back down. These pictures are actually featured on our website even smaller at 180X128, so some condensation will improve the look. Thanks for the help!
