Losing Mouse control no matter what version.
Hello all and thank you in advance.

Whenever I run Gimp everything loads up just fine. Problem is, no matter what action I take it's like one and done. For instance I load a file, lose mouse control. Click a tool, lose mouse control etc etc. Even in the settings menus same thing, change one setting, lose mouse control.

Spam clicking in frustration I'll notice tool options will occasionally "highlight" as I click. When I try to use colors>>levels on an image, or any slider for that matter, as soon as I mouse over the slider bar the "arrow" snaps to my mouse like I'm holding it down.

The program itself is not crashed. I can manipulate it, drag it, minimize it etc.

Win 8.1 Pro, 16gb ram. PC.

Have tried removing profile, reinstall, reinstall other versions.... all the same issue.

No other troubles with any other programs etc.

EDIT: While playing around in settings I clicked the "up" arrow button on the "# of processors" option. It seems like Gimp gets stuck on my last click. For instance if I click the up arrow once, no matter where I click after that it registers me as clicking that same up button. Hope this helps :/

I can tab though and change tools manually using the keyboard. I have tried to reset the input options to no avail.

RE: Losing Mouse control no matter what version.
Hi,
Is this only happening with Gimp, or all applications?
Can you post an image of your Edit->Input Devices dialog when you start Gimp?

Is this a laptop or desktop pc?
If laptop...
a. Swipe in from the right to bring up the charms, and choose Settings.
b. Select Change PC Settings.
c. Click Mouse & Touchpad.
d. In the drop down to help prevent the cursor from accidentally moving while you type, change the delay before clicks work, select No Delay.

Have you tried running Gimp with the --verbose option and checking the output during start up to see if anything is going awry there?

It is a PC.

Only happens to Gimp.

--verbose throws no errors.

RE: Losing Mouse control no matter what version.
Do you have any kind of antivirus installed? If so did you try to disable it?

RE: Losing Mouse control no matter what version.
Hi,
Thanks for the requested information.
Under Preferences->Input Controllers
Try removing the Mouse Buttons from the Active Controllers list.
See if that makes any difference.

I moved them there to see if it would alleviate the problem. They were not originally there. So same issue even without them added.

Sorry Dead2Fall, I am not sure I understand your response...
As per your posted image, I am suggesting trying removing 'Mouse Buttons' from your active controllers.
See image below.

PS If that is what you did as per your reply, then apologies for my confusion.

RE: Losing Mouse control no matter what version.
Mouse buttons were originally not active. I made them active trying to fix this. Even without them active the issue still persists.

I also want to thank you for your time in trying to help me Smile

RE: Losing Mouse control no matter what version.
Hello, I had exactly the same problem. It was an issue with my graphics card; I updated it and everything is fine now. I hope this helps.
