Logos
Do you feel like logos are an important part of blogs and/or forums?

I don't think so, if the content is good and there is no logo it doesn't matter to me.

RE: Logos
I think it can go either way, but you can't have a good site with just an awesome logo and horrible content.

RE: Logos
It's only important if you are trying to establish easy recognition and remembrance of your presence. It's easier to remember something when imagery is associated with it.

I view the logo as the face and the content as the body of the entity. So without the logo, there is a faceless body, which in some cases may not be such a bad idea!

RE: Logos
Nice layout is no substitute for good content, and a nice, easily recognisable logo along with a good layout makes a site recognisable and easy to read.

I usually have at least ten tabs open in Firefox (right now, I have 52 Blush open), and so when I jump to a tab and it I instantly recognise it as being the one I want, I'm happy.

Wilbur and Tux are my favourite iconic logos.

RE: Logos
if you're not the very creative type, an alternative is to come up with a cool slogan/catchphrase.

You can change the style of the font, color it and add some shine. That will also give something for visitors to remember.
Just be sure to make it short enough to memorize/get stuck in your head.
example: "you'll love the way you look" -a suit company (can't remember the exact name, but you can find them through that phrase. (SEE?!) Smile
