RE: Little help with links
If you want a link in your signature, you insert it in your signature using a [URL] BBCode tag:
Code:
[URL=http://your/url/here]the link text[/URL]

RE: Little help with links
Image mapping works in your own HTML, but on a forum you don't do HTML. You are limited to some HTML features through the BBCode language. A forum can't let Joe Randomuser insert whatever HTML he want in his posts/sig (if the HTML in the sig is faulty, it breaks all the pages where one of that guy's posts is displayed). And I'll let you imagine what would happen if spammers could inject their own HTML in forum pages.

RE: Little help with links
You can have an image in the link, but not an image map:

Code:
[url=http://your/url/here][img]http://your/image/url/here/[/img][/url]
