limit on image size in pixels
Can someone tell me if GIMP can handle images that are larger than 32k per side? The alternative seems to be Adobe extended which is pricey.

You realize, of course, that a 32Kx32K picture is one Gigapixel and, at 4bytes per pixel (in 8-bits mode) won't fit in your standard machine (would require 4GB for one single layer and without any undo stack). So the price of a machine where it fits may make the price of Adobe extender a bit irrelevant...

PS: of course, if one of the dimensions is reasonable, Gimp will handle it. I successfully created a 60,000x100 ribbon and performed a couple of operations on it
