Lightscribe Pattern
Hey guys! Ive used gimp for awhile but just recently as more than a glorified ms paint replacement so Im still a newbie...anyway I want to create a template for a lightscribe disk...I found out the free software from lightscribe stores templates as simple jpegs. I imported one of these templates on top of a transparent layer of the same resolution and deleted the area outside the boundaries of the cd (so basically there is a cd with a hollow center overtop a transparent layer). Is there anyway I can make other layers I add stay within these boundaries?

I kind of gave up on lightscribe, because of the restrictions on colour & printable area but not everyone has a printer that prints CD/DVDs so LightScribe is an alternative.
Just do not let the disks sit in the light, some of mine faded horribly.

caveat, I do use linux AFAIK windows is the same.

This is a screen shot of my last saved jpg and saved xcf (not the same, obviously forgot to keep a jpg ) but shows up the xcf layers. It is quite a big size, took the dimensions 2773 x 2773 pix from a lightscribe template.
Just add your own image and text layers.

When you come to export your xcf to a jpg for lightscribe, turn off the outline template layer

If it helps a basic outline xcf attached. unzip for to use.

.zip  lightscribe.xcf.zip (Size: 19.91 KB / Downloads: 118)

RE: Lightscribe Pattern
Thanks for the template! And its good to see another linux user around here. I'm an Arch guy myself, although I probably will run windows to burn the lightscribe disk, because their software hasn't been updated in forever, and requires a 2.6 kernel...
