Lets Clean Up The Coast!
So let me tell you how my day went, but this isn't an ordinary day, and if you follow a long you'll see why it's so interesting, and good.

So today I had nothing to do at all, completely free. Well my hommie Eric, and I were kicking it. Skating part of the day, and we're like. Yo man we should gather up some wood, and have a fire. Now I live in a town house which is like an apartment, their slightly different, but similar. Anyway! We have this river called the Rock River that is kind of in our Back Yard is probably the best thing to say as we live in a community sort to speak. So we're walking along the coast gathering the twigs sticks and suck that are lying there. Hey good way to have a free fire huh?

Anyway! As we're picking up these sticks, and twigs I see a chair in the river, and we'll the Rock River is incredibly polluted. No ones allowed to swim in it, and the consolation officers say not to ever eat the fish in the water either.

So as we got a lot of wood for a good fire I'm like, "Yo man lets clean the coast up?" My hommie's like, "Why?", and I told him that I hate this kind of stuff as you'll see ducks with fishing line in between their feet, and they can't fly. Most of them end up dead. I remember when I was a kid seeing some drunk gay men getting it on their boat, and a whole gas can fell in the river. I mean I even found my bike in the river.

So my friend, and I started cleaning the river up, and I began to think to set a specific date, where we get a group of people to clean the coast, and another time to clean the city, but as a group walking down the road picking up trash, putting them in a bag, for one to get thrown away, and another that'd be safe to burn, and not harm the air. I'd print a paper where people can sign their names on that date, have the news announce it, and help make it better out here. Also make a video as a commercial, and show people how much harm it's done.

I'm free for a whole week with no work, and now it's kind of boring sitting at home with nothing to do so this is something I love, and will enjoy doing, as it'll help me embrace my Native American history too. Except within me though.

Talk about a cool day though huh?

That's so good to hear, i also live near a river in the UK, it was the most polluted river in Europe, it had health warnings every so often along the length of it, there were toxins in that river that could not even be identified, most of them were believed to come from a coke and chemical plant way up stream About twenty years or so ago our government of the day, decided to clean up all our rivers, which included shutting down the coke and chemical plant, forcing every company that poured effluent of any kind, to purify it first, with real big fines for anyone not doing so. That river was totally dead, no fish of any description, never had been for all my life, but today some twenty years on, its as clean as a whistle, we even have Salmon coming back up river after about 100 years or so. We now have swans and ducks all over the river and i just heard the other day, that Otters have been seen again just a few miles further down stream from me, how fantastic is that?

Get on to your local politician and put him under pressure, get him to fight to clean up that river, it can easily be done, my local river is proof of that. What a legacy to leave your children and grandchildren, a lovely clean river. How proud they would be to tell their friends, that their Father/Grandfather was the man responsible for cleaning up that filthy old river? You could contact local news papers and get them to publicize the the companies who are poisoning it, your local supermarket might even help you, no company wants bad press its not good for business. I guess your a youngster, but remember, if adults are brought to book by a child or a youth, it has more effect than an adult doing it, do it now while your youth is on your side. Good luck with your venture.

That is a great way to spend your day, doing something nice for your community. Pollution is everywhere, and we need to do more to stop it.

Really cool idea! I live in a city that's really polluted, people throw garbage in the ground with no mercy. Sometimes I get one thing or two in the ground, but I have to start to make it a habit - and even calling more people to help me. Reading your really cool day made me get inspired again!!! Don't forget to reply here to tell your achievements!

Sounds like you had a great day. Hard work and a real sense of achievement afterwards , there's nothing like it. Cool.
