Layer Boarder
Hello!

So I'm pretty new to Gimp (I was okay at PS CS4) but I'm having trouble with something. I want to add a boarder to a layer, not the whole image. Is there a way I can do this? Thanks!

RE: Layer Boarder
If you need to play with the border contents
- "Layer/new layer" to add new layer with required size
- use alignment tool to center over the layer to frame (at that point you can do fancy things to the frame layer (paint, etc...)
- "layers dialog": make framed layer active
- "select/none", "layers/transparency/add to selection": this selects the whole layer
- "layers dialog": make framing layer active
- delete key or edit/clear (punches big square hole in framing layer to show the framed one.
- layer/merge down (when done, and if necessary)

If you just need to enlarge the layer:
- select layer
- "layers/layer boundary size" and enter the required size (and check the "center" option)
