Large images opening at 1.56%
Hi, I have a bunch of very large images that I work with and every time I open one it opens at 1.56% in a small window. How can I get it to open in a full screen window at 100%? It's really annoying to have to change it every single time I open one.

I don't know how your installation is set up but first thoughts are:

Set Gimp up the way you want, might be full screen to suit your large images (or some other size).
Then Edit -> Preferences -> window management
untick 'save window positions on exit'
click on 'Save Window Positions Now'

..are you in single window mode..?

Then as a second option - default hot keys
1 - 100% zoom
ctrl-j shrink wrap
shift-ctrl-j fit into window.

RE: Large images opening at 1.56%
Thanks a lot for your help.

I tried the windows management solution and it didn't work.

The view 100% is what I need, but it won't save that way.

shift-ctrl-j fit into window is actually the opposite of what I want, so maybe that can give you a clue to what will help. The problem I'm having is that when I open the image it automatically fits it into a window. I don't want it to do that. I want it to open at 100%, only showing me a small part of the huge image.

Hi,
Try Edit->Preferences
Then under 'Image Windows', set the 'Initial Zoom Ratio' to 1:1

OOOOoook, I know the problem(i think xD

*the resolution of your image is higher than your monitor/screen resolution ^_^

The only downside of having it be saved at screen resolution is a reduction in quality.
(unless you make it a little bigger than the screen, or compensate somewhere in the middle:

visibility / panning vs. quality(size in pixels)

So in pixels, what is your screen resolution?
example: 1024 x 768, 1280 x 720, 1600 x 900, etc.

Make your image the same size problem solved
go to :
Image > Scale image...
-Lock the proportion (chain link) then type one of the screen size (height or width)
-push enter.
