JPG resolution shows different than in Photoshop

Exclamation JPG resolution shows different than in Photoshop
I have a jpg file that when opened in PhotoShop shows that its resolution is 300dpi.

When I open the same file in GIMP and view either the scale image or print size dialogs it shows as 72dpi.

Is there a reason for this?
