ISO a tutorial to do this text effect
Hi!

If I've posted this in the wrong place I do apologize!

What I'm trying to figure out is how to do text effect 2 from this link http://sixrevisions.com/tutorials/photos...hotoshop/. I figured out text effect 1 but 2 is really bugging me! I just don't see the correlation between the screen shots from the photoshop interface to the gimp interface.

If there's a tut out there to create this same exact effect point me to it! I do appreciate any help!

Thanks and I appreciate the help!!!

Basically I'm trying to get this effect:

Pretty sure that is a gradient, on that font. Wouldn't be that hard. Although I don't know how to make a gradient so yeah, and then it would be guess work to find right font.
Hope this helps,
Willy

Not that difficult:

- Create image with black backround
- Add your text in white, keep on separate layer
- Filters/Decor/Add bevel, move to image created
- On text layer, Layer/Transparency/Alpha to selection (should select the text)
- Select/Shrink (3-4 pixels or more depending on size of text), so that selectoin leaves a border around text
- Apply gradient.

Now, of course, you need the right gradient, so to create it:
- Start the gradient tool, click on active gradient icon
- In gradient pallette window, click on rightmost icon at bottom
- In gradient selection dialog, click on "new gradient icon at bottom", which puts you in the gradient editor. You will see three triangle handles at bottom
- Right click, and "split segment at midpoint.". You now have 5 handles
- If you click on the left side, it should turn blue (right side turns white).
- Using right-click menu define that segment going from dark green to white
- Click on right side, and define it going from white to light green
- Move handles around if you want to even it out (by default the white is a bit brutal)
- You can save it to disk if you want to reuse it later
- If you return to the gradient tool, this should have become the new active gradient.

I give it a whirl! Thanks so much!

And here's my attempt! I think my gradient is whack! I fought with that gradient editor for like 45 minutes. I was afraid to touch it after awhile! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!
