Is it possible to enable snapping for a start in blend tool?

Is it possible to enable snapping for a start in blend tool?
For example take this tutorial and look at step 2:

I tried view snap to grid, but this only affects the end selection of blend tool and not the start.

Nothing makes the start of a blend specific to snap actions, it works like the rest. What you want here is "View/Snap to canvas edges". And blind faith in Gimp's Infinite Magic Power, because the snap occurs, but when you click down to start the gradient (if you are close enough of course).
