is it possible to...
would it be possible to have a "server" version of gimp where 2 or more people can paint on the same project in real time? me and my friend have been trying to find something like this to do exactly that: working on the same project together in real time (like a collaboration). I think many people here would benefit from this if it was added Big Grin if someone could tell me if it is possible, that would be great. if anyone wants to attempt a plugin that allows you to do that, it would be grand. if this could be implemented into a vanilla version of gimp, that would be epic Big Grin

You can always try Join.me, because I don't think it's possible to do something like that on Gimp in real time.
Join.me will let other people control your computer.

RE: is it possible to...
A few websites have used parts of GIMP to make logo pages. For example; it is hard not to see the hand of GIMP at Flaming Text website.

You are not too far off from someone eventually hosting it on a Linux server and allowing you to operate a copy by remote control. The obvious payoff to that would be the host attracts people to the hosting site where they are subjected to ads. While the user, who wants a "one and done", can manipulate their images without actually installing the program.
