increase/decrease selection size
Within gimp, I selected a portion of one image, copied it, and pasted it on another image. Now I want to take the pasted selection and increase/decrease its size. What tool does this? 'Grow' and 'Scale Image' doesn't work. Thanks.

RE: increase/decrease selection size
Use the Scale tool (Scale). Typically you create a new layer with your pasted data (after the paste, juste use "Layer/New layer" and the new layer will "capture" the paste) and use the Scale tool on that layer.

Very often, you want to both scale and rotate and either operation adds a slight blur to the scaled/rotated data, so it's better done only once (in other words, if you miss, don't adjust/fix your bad result, but start over). There is a very nice script which, given two pairs of points: two points on the target layer, and two on the additional layer, computes the best scale/rotation (and does it in one operation) so that the two sets of points match:

Makre sure that the interpolation algorithm you use is Sinc/Lanczos. This is the best one, but still not the default beause it's a bit more CPU- intensive than the others (but on modern PCs you won't feel the difference). You can set it as default in "Edit/Preferences -> Tool options"
