Import image as layer, too large
I imported a PNG file into Gimp as a layer. However, no matter how large the image was, when it comes into GIMP, it gets HUGE. Then I have to scale it, that leads to tremendous quality loss (unless I'm doing that wrong). In Microsoft Picture It, I made sure the size of this PNG is about 1.5 inches wide, and 1 inch tall. But when I bring it into Gimp - on a business card size canvas (3.5 inches wide), I only see a small portion of the image! It gets huge, and I have no idea why. I specifically resized it in Picture It so that when I brought it into Gimp, I would not have to do the nasty scaling stuff (quality loss??). If anyone can help me out, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks. EDIT: I guess pixels is all that matters...the image is apparently 800 pixels wide and 600 pixels tall (before I import it into GIMP at least). And I also just discovered that my GIMP image only had a resolution of 72 ppi in x and y! So I started over with a new file, making it also 3.5 inches wide, but with a resolution of 500 ppi. Now things seem to be working, and I think it all makes sense. Thanks again.

Rick
