Image selection grow from psd path

can anybody help me?
I want to read a psd-file with a path in it. (with python)
The next step is to convert the path to a selection, grow this selection an save the file as a psd with the new path in it.

I tried something like this but nothing worked:

image=pdb.gimp_file_load(file, file)
drawable = pdb.gimp_image_get_active_layer(image)
//this one give me the correct name of the path in the psd file

//then i want to change this vector to an selection with this function
pdb.gimp_image_select_item(image, CHANNEL_OP_ADD, vectors)

//growing this selection
pdb.gimp_selection_grow(image, 10)

//saving this selection

//saving the file
pdb.gimp_file_save(RUN_NONINTERACTIVE, image, drawable, file, file)

But when I open the saved file the psd file is more than double as big as the original file without any paths in it...

Have anybody an idea? (I use gimp 2.8.0)
