Image resolution & Quality
Is it possible to resize an image, and then improve it's resolution and quality in Gimp? eg) take a standard picture-sizded image and make it into a 1024x768 pi. image that looks as good as the old one? A walkthrough would be awesome! Thanks!

RE: Image resolution & Quality
If the image is no bigger than your thumb nail (hence where "thumbnail came from" then there is little to no hope to enlarge it.

If your original sized image is anywhere around 500x500 up to 1024x768, then there is a chance you can enlarge it and then sharpen / unsharp mask filter it.

Rule of thumb (another one lol) :
- Scale down from original big image, then sharpen as neeeded
- For smalller original images, scale up 1 to 2x the original size with "cubic", "linear" or "none" interpolation, then sharpen or "Selective Blur" (if no interpolation)
FILTERS > BLURS > SELECTIVE BLUR...

*Tinker with the settings on Selective blur until the lines/jaggies blend well
