I've been a dedicated photoshop user for a long time but have found with some exceptions that The Gimp is a reasonable equivalent. Being free helps too and I'm tired of supporting Adobe. I need to reduce the learning curve and know that this must be the place to do that. Don't rag me too much for asking baby questions.

I've got one here. I know what the initials mean but who came up with the mascot? What kind of animal is that?

Perspective

PS:
I do love the way the program handles curves. For some reason I can't figure it gives me more defined rendering than in PS. I also use Ufraw because I shoot in raw.

Welcome GeePaul. I joined today as well. Smile I never thought about the mascot, but now you've also got me wondering about its origins.

The revolution will be drawn poorly

We don't know (dog? fox?) but it's called Wilber.

Wiber? Not Wilbur The Magnificent Pig? Hmmm. It does look a cross between a dog and a weasel. At one time I thought the log was a Chimp. Rhyming with GIMP? Yet that would be the Greasemonkey mascot.
