I need2upgrade laptop/Gimp(details inside)
Keep in mind, This is based on Gimp, as I love using gimp!

Ok, so my old workhorse is an xp hpezz pav zv & has run Gimp nicely all the way up to 2.8.6. I never got the opportunity to try out 2.8.2 though :\
I have other PC's but this is my only laptop.

Anyways, I need to upgrade to a new one soon, I heard the graphic's card fan buzzing once, don't know if its dirt inside, but this PC has lived along time haha. I like hpezz for its performance.

-I found a nice chromebook hpezz (within budget) for a decent price and good sized screen/speakers and full sized keyboard, but I don't think it can run Gimp. Plus no cd drive Sad

I have a budget anywhere from 200-500$ and there are so many out there it's hard to choose.

Maybe some of you could weigh in(with previous experience) and help make the decision a little easier when you have the time(or bored lmao).

My main priorities(basically an overal multimedia laptop)
-Can run Gimp
-(My Music) nice sounding from the speakers, with a little bass if possible.
(don't want to always use headphones)
-Windoze7 if possible (don't like the new 8 too much, its so clunky IMO)
- decent or moderate graphics to play video online offline(media player & flash)

I plan to go shopping for a new one this weekend or next, excited!
Many thanks for any help in advance!

RE: I need2upgrade laptop/Gimp(details inside)
My hubby uses TigerDirect for all his corporate PC purchases. The current HP PC I have is a second hand PC I found myself on Craigslist. I would try getting the old one fixed up and sell it while it is running if that was my PC. So far the only trouble I had with mine was a simple $15 keyboard replacement. My keys were not working and my hubby found my food crumbs in the old one. LoL Many people ask me about the plastic bottle caps I glued on the bottom. But the answer is the fans are on the bottom so the caps act as little legs to keep air flow down there.

Best of Luck!

Cool, I'll check out that site later Thursday(added to favorites), you ninja replied XD Lol@food crumbs. I like your bottle cap idea! I currently use a stand with about the same space as the caps, but if it doesn't fit my new laptop I probably will try that Smile

No laptop has decent built-in speakers (espeically if you want bass), unless it's huge because decent speakers require a large area. Buy yourself a pair of $10 external speakers...
...(then the Chromebook hardware with Linux on top of it could be a good idea)....

Thanks for the prompt reply input Ofnuts! I did find a tutorial searching for how to put windoze on chrome(Linux + chrome) so that could be an option, i like the browser and the OS looks so cool, kinda like a mac.

I didn't mean alot of bass just not so tinny. Mine are horizontal hrman krdonz quality. the 10$ option is doable though.

Well, thats my post/help quota for the night/morning. If anyone else has suggestions let me know, goodnight/morning all lol!
