I need the Gimp.exe
Hello everyone.

I needed to use GIMP at my work computer and as I can not do any kind of DL on my work, I needed the gimp.exe.

I have brought one from home last friday but it just didn't work because it was saying "need internet connection" and as I said before I'm not allowed on my work to make any kind of DL so I was not able to install GIMP on my computer...

So I'm asking you people if one of you people know a link where I could DL the .exe so I could install on my work computer...

Thanks in advance

RE: I need the Gimp.exe
Official downloads are somewhere there:

http://download.gimp.org/pub/gimp/v2.8/windows/

But the server is down right now. You can also get the versions from Partha, they are just as good and trustable as the "official" ones. One advantage for you is that they come with several popular plugins bundled, that's that much you won't have to download again:

http://www.partha.com/

(download links at top left, check the "bitness" of your operating system (WinXP is 32 bits, Win7 is likely 64 bit if your work PC isn't an old clunky thing).

That has to be GimpShop, for several reasons do not go down that route

If the regular Gimp download site is down then try one of the numerous mirrors. It is always a good idea to find a nearby source.

Try this first
ftp://mirrors-br.go-parts.com/gimp/v2.8/windows/
or one of the North American university sites
http://mirror.umd.edu/gimp/gimp/v2.8/windows/

look for the latest package
gimp-2.8.10-setup.exe

RE: I need the Gimp.exe
Come to think of it, if you find that you have not got the permission to install things on your computer, you can try one of the "portable" versions that can run from a USB key (or just put on disk anywhere without being formally installed). You can find such versions on Partha's site (further down on the left). They are advertised as release 2.8.6 but that should be good enough for most purposes (I'm still on 2.8.2...).
