How to turn two transparent PNGs into an animated GIF?
Hello everyone!

So I have these two images with transparent backgrounds: http://puu.sh/8XND9.png and http://puu.sh/8XP2h.png

They are identical except that the second one has inverted colours (and slightly lower brightness and higher contrast). The idea was to have the first original image occasionally flash to the inverted one on a set interval. Something like this:

- 9 seconds original
- 0.5 seconds inverted (or maybe something that will not give people seizures Tongue)
[repeat]

Not sure what intervals I'll use exactly (any ideas are MORE than welcome!), but that's something to figure out later. First I gotta know how to create such a gif so that it doesn't mess with the transparent background. Is that even possible with GIMP?

Thanks in advance!

Oh, and did I mention I'm a total noob when it comes to GIMP? I have never used it before... If there's a tutorial on what I want to do, then that's fine too!

Another note: the plan is to post it on a website, so if it doesn't work out with the transparency then technically I could blend it in using the same background colour as the website.

RE: How to turn two transparent PNGs into an animated GIF?
I have been lazy by making this thread before messing around with gimp myself. I tried it just now and it was surprisingly easy... So as far as my original question goes, it has been solved. Smile

Here's the gif: http://puu.sh/8Y5eT.gif (looped to flash twice every 15 seconds, so don't hold your breath)

It does seem a little... "greener" compared to the original: http://puu.sh/8XND9.png - resolution seems to have dropped as well. Overall the blacks and whites look slightly worse. Can that be prevented or will my gif then get a humongous filesize?

GIF only has 256 colors for the whole image and binary transparency, so it will never look as good as PNG.

Oh well, it isn't that noticeable. It already turned out better than expected anyway so I'm content.

Thanks for your answer!
