How to mimic traditional art mediums?
How to mimic traditional art mediums? I've been looking around but I don't know what it would be call when you try to use a program like GIMP to copy the style of traditional painting methods like Oils, watercolor, acrylic paintings and even pastels/charcoal or etc.

How would someone go about achieving this effect? How would I look for such tutorials? What would the people call this method? Blending? I'm so lost. I really like the look of painting on a canvas or even crayons and pastels but I don't know how to achieve the same effect on the computer digitally.
