How to get python module to load?

I've been using both Gimp and Python for awhile, but am new to using the two together. My general question is how exactly to get the python module (which I understand is included with Gimp) to load, so that I can use its functions with stand-alone scripts.

When I enter the following into either a script, or the IDLE console:
import gimpfu

I get the following returned:
Quote:ImportError: No module named gimpfu

Is there something simple I'm missing here? I've tried re-installing the latest version of Gimp with no results. Some info on my Python/Gimp installs if it helps any:

OS: Windows 7 64-bit
Python version: 2.7.3
Gimp version: 2.8.10

The "Python-Fu" console opens up within Gimp, but again I can't get the module to load in any script I attempt to write. Any help would be much appreciated.
