How to fill individual grid squares?
Pretty much what it says in the title. I would like to know how to fill in individual grid squares in GIMP.

Fill with what?

colours, patterns, icons, images... ?

Filter -> render -> pattern -> checkerboard does what it says, with the fg/bg colours.

Just color. I want to individually fill in grid squares with a chosen color from the palette.

RE: How to fill individual grid squares?
If you do not want a 2 colour checkerboard pattern as the previous post, you will have to put in a bit more work.

You can set up guides to mark out the areas, if you want a regular set of guides then this is the tool http://registry.gimp.org/node/12003 - grid of guides.
Then you have to make a selection into one of the grid areas. Enable snap to grid in the View menu.
If everything is regular size then you only need to do this once, the selection will move with the move tool.

Filling the selection, is a straight from the palette. Click -> drag and drop.

like this.

This is for a big-ish grid, a small grid with many cells, ... problem.

That's what I'm using, but I found the "snap to grid" option which will be close enough to what I want, since I can just fill in a selected area, which will actually make my job a bit easier.
