How to dodge/burn without losing saturation?

How to dodge/burn without losing saturation?
I was doing it before, but now it keeps losing saturation when I use the dodge/burn tool. I must have changed a setting or something.

Hmm. I just realized changing the range to highlights creates the effect I want.
