How to convert portrait image to landscape
Is there a way to do this without stretching the image and messing up the aspect ratio?

Thanks for your help.

Do you mean rotate an image 90 degrees ?

menu: Image -> Transform -> Rotate 90 clockwise (or counter-clockwise as required)

or

Do you mean a natural portrait shot such as a head and shoulders or a full length person and make that into a landscape image?

answer, not without some work and probably replacing the background.

RE: How to convert portrait image to landscape
Separating a head from the background can be tricky especially if fine strands of hair are involved.

The method can vary as well. Often easier if there is a plain background. How much do you know of the Gimp selection tools?

What sort of background does your portrait have, indooors / outdoors / plain / busy. If a very plain background, would a bit of distortion just of the background be acceptable?

RE: How to convert portrait image to landscape
Heck, if the background is plain/consistent enough you could try the handy liquid rescale plugin (self-installer)

Or if you don't mind, post the picture you want to convert & I can try it with the plugin & post the settings/result of the picture.

What size landscape do you want it? (pixel HxW)
