How To Adjust Filter Intensity in Gimp?
I'm transitioning to Gimp 2.8.2 (Mac). In the past I've used imaging apps that have a control that adjusts the intensity to which a filter is applied, usually with a slider. For instance, adjusting the intensity of a blur filter, from a small amount, merely smoothng the image, to the full amount, bluring the image completely. The ability to adjust filter intensity seems to be a common function of most imaging programs I've seen. Yet there seems to be no control in Gimp that adjusts filter intensity. The layer 'mode' menu does not have such an option. I hope the problem is simply my own ignorance. I can't imagine that a sophisticated imaging program like Gimp has no way to control the degree to which a filter is applied. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

RE: How To Adjust Filter Intensity in Gimp?
Here is one example:

Go to
Filters>Blur>Gaussian Blur
You get 2 spin boxes (Horizontal, Vertical) which control the amount of blur.

Apply the filter, and then use >Edit>Fade <your filter>

Thanks! I knew it was something mind-bogglingly simple. The deeper I delve into Gimp's complex functions, the more I realize just how simple it really is!
