How do I separate images after gangscan?
Hello, The question is the subject. How do I separate images after gangscan? I am scanning many old family photos. I am scanning 6 at one time and saving them as a .jpg. How would I go about separating those pictures into individual .jpgs? Thank you.

RE: How do I separate images after gangscan?
Normally, scanner software will let you select several areas in the preview and scan them as distinct images in one pass of the scanner.

In Gimp, in the general case you'll have to load the image, crop it for one of the individual images, "File/Save as...", and undo the crop (Ctrl-Z) and crop again for another image, etc...

If your images are all neatly aligned, you can position "guides" where you want border-to-border cuts to happen, and the use Image/Transform/Guillotine, which will produce one image per rectangle delimited by these guides.

In addition to guillotine

A possibility is one of RobA's scripts see: http://registry.gimp.org/node/22177

I have used this and it does work but also needs a decent separation between the images.

also I know you can do it with imagemagick but I would have to look up syntax/suitable scripts.
