How do I save an index image's color map?

Rainbow How do I save an index image's color map?
Hello, I am new to GIMP, I am editing an image where the colormap NEEDS to be the same as it started once I finish editing it. Is there an easy way to save the colormap? If not I will be forced to use photoshop for this project.

2) If you want to change image to full RGB and later re-index it using the same colormap, then:

- You can save the color map to a palette: open the Palettes list ((Windows>Dockable dialogs>Palettes), right-click on the list and "Import palette", then select "Image" as the source.
- When converting back to indexed (Image>Mode>Indexed) you can specify a palette to use as a colormap, so you can use the one your created earlier.
