How do I make a basic color filter?
I want to make a basic color filter over my image that, for instance, filters out every color that isn't red. so everything that was red would show up as normal and everything that was blue or green would show up as black.

How do I do taht in gimp?

RE: How do I make a basic color filter?
What do you want to do with colors that are partially red (like Orange/Violet)?

Otherwise, if what you want is an image for each of the RGB color channels; use Colors/Components/Decompose that will make create an image with three layers corresponding to the three color channels.

You can also open the Channels list, and right-click one of the color channels, and issue "Channel to selection". You then have a selection over each pixels of the image, where the pixels are selected proportionally to the color component you chose.
