How do I change dropdown menu default from File-->Open-->Pics to File-->Open-->Docs?
Greetings;

I am using the Windows 7 operating system. Windows 7 has a User (i.e. "JimTrail") as a root directory.

The directories underneath the root directory include Pictures, Documents, and others.

When I first start the program and click the File --> Open dropdown menu Gimp opens in the Pictures directory.

This is the current default when I want to open a file just after Gimp starts:
File --> Open --> Pictures

Most of the time I need to access an image stored in a sub-directory in the Documents folder.

It's annoysome for Gimp to start at the Pictures folder each time that I start the program.

I want it to open to the Documents folder or the User folder.

I want Gimp to open at this location:
File --> Open --> Documents

Or this location:
File --> Open --> User

Can somebody tell me how to set the default Open folder to the User (root) directory or the Documents directory?

Thanks.

Got it! Thanks for the help.

For other Windows users you 1). right click on the Gimp icon on your desktop; 2). click Properties; the Gimp Properties box will open - there it will say something like "Start in;" then you 3). designate the starting folder.

If you right click on the Gimp exe file in the Programs-->Gimp directory it may not have a Properties option on the menu. I had to access the Properties option from the desktop icon.

I know what you mean about the Windows operating system. Microsoft keeps coming out with newer versions but it really doesn't improve very much from version to version.

I am familiar with the Linux operating system. Whenever I can get enough time to learn it I might switch over myself.
