Smile How did you find out about GIMP?
Personally, I was looking for a free and true Photoshop alternative several years ago. It was a time when I entered the world of OSS (Open-source Software) by installing Linux on my personal computer. Then, on Windows, I also started to use open source applications for my everyday tasks, like 7-Zip for file archiving needs.

Just wondering how did you find out about GIMP?

RE: How did you find out about GIMP?
I have played with paint shop for about 3 years now. I have been playing with vexels and vectors and I wanted mine to look more realistic. All the art I see that looks real but is digital vexel/vectors is always done in photoshop so I went to ebay to see if I could find it at a reasonable price. Thats how I found Gimp.
I have played with it a bit, but find myself going back to Paint Shop. I am sure once I figure out all the tools and how to work it I will use it more.
I must say that the plug-ins on PSP are much more user friendly than in gimp, but I do like the airbrush better in Gimp. Give a more realistic airbrush look than PSP.

Just a few minutes ago I have come to know about gimp forum. It is nice to visit this forum, I feel. The avatar you have used is interesting. I have never seen a cat which has closed one eye deliberately. Pleasing it is.
Thank you all who are with gimp forum. I wish gimp forum should succeed.

RE: How did you find out about GIMP?
Knew about it for a while but I was always a Adobe user and was told it was underpowered in comparision to whatever iteration of PS I might be using at the time.

Now that I've become a Linux user, it's really my only option....but for the sort of stuff I do, it's enough, I reckon.

RE: How did you find out about GIMP?
Been using GIMP since 2.2. Know what, I've always used GIMP. I don't remember how I found out about it. For me, there has never been anything else.

RE: How did you find out about GIMP?
I foundout about Gimp when I searched PS alternatives on Google, and I found Krita, Paint.NET, Gimp, and some others. I looked into them, and the 3 above I tried. Now Krita was hard for me to use, and Paint.NET didn't cut it, and Gimp I feel in love with.

I was previously a PS user, until my trial went out, and at first it was hard to get used to the Gimp, but after awhile I got it down, and had a lot of fun!
