'Hide Gimp' menu option disabled. Fix?
(Gimpshop 2.8.2 Mac)

The 'Hide Gimp' option in the Gimp Menu disabled for some reason. Tried to change the shortcut but no option in Shortcuts Prefs. Can't find a fix in the User Guide. Any way to change Menu Shortcuts? Or some workaround for this? Seriously puts a crimp in my workflow when I can't easily switch to the Desktop.

Thanks in advance for all the great advice! Gimp Forums is the gold standard.

You are using a older version of gimp (2.8.2) & its gimpshop at that, not the official build. There have been numerous reports that gimpshop is bloatware and if you're not careful can install stuff you don't want besides gimp.

Instead, please try one of the later builds for mac from Gimps official site or the lisanet site:

For now I wasn't able to get to the ftp download part so try these mirrors if it doesn't work

RE: 'Hide Gimp' menu option disabled. Fix?
(Upton O. Goode wrote) Downloaded 2.8.10, but still the same problem. 'Hide Gimp" KB command doesn't work. 'Hide Gimp' in File Menu works, but not KB 'Command-H', which is a Mac system command that works for all other windows.

It's just an inconvenience, but I'm wondering if it's just me or if others have the same problem.

However, I also miss Gimpshop's extras, like G'MIC, & the darker grey UI. I guess I can install G'MIC myself, but is there any way I can change 2.8.10 to the darker UI, or is there another current build with the darker UI?

Thanks again..

Also, Partha's builds (http://www.partha.com) are as reliable as the official ones and include several popular plugins such as GMIC.

Partha's 2.8 Mac build is the best I've seen yet. All the functionality of Gimpshop & then some. Much nicer interface, too. Plus, 'Hide Gimp' works! Can't imagine anything better. I'm a happy Gimper.

Can't thank you guys enough. What's the best way for me to contribute?

If Giimp Forum is any measure of the open-source community, I'm going all open-source from now on. (Now if only I could get Xquartz to install, I'd be able to use Inkscape..)
