Hi.
Hello. Just joined the forums to learn more about how to use gimp and hopefully it will encourage me to practice with it more. I'm interested to learn how to use it for creating my own digital art like portrait painting or maybe create anime stuff? Although i really suck at it, i want to learn not to. Blush

Can you make your question more specific, maybe like:
How can I create anime stuff or digital portrait art painting?

What specific technique would you like to learn?

Looking forward to help you where possible! Happy Gimping!

Sorry for the late reply. Thanks for the welcome!

And yes i would be very interested to learn how to create anime stuff and digital protrait art painting using Gimp.

For digital protrait painting, i would like to learn how to paint and draw a face like from comic books. I know a little bit how to use Photoshop. But i mostly use select tools to form different shapes i need and fill it with color or use the pen tool to create paths and use stroke as brush. I did try using smudge tool to make hair once or twice.

I really have difficulty with finding the right blend of flesh color for face. And then creating shadows and lines to form noses, lips, ears, and eyes.

Wow. Those tutorials are indeed very interesting. Thank you very much for sharing! Smile

I'll try to see if i can follow it when i get the chance. Though i doubt it will look anywhere near as good. Maybe i can also try a lighter shade of flesh tone/color.

You are very welcome.
If painting is your interest have you heard of GPS (Gimp Paint Studio)?
It is a collection of Brushes/Dynamics/Tool Presets etc. for Gimp.

Cool. But i'm not sure if i can use it with my GIMP 2.6.11. I tried installing it and did notice the new gimp studio logo when opening GIMP now. But other than that, i don't notice much change.

RE: Hi.
There was a version for Gimp 2.6 in the past.
Have a hunt around you may still be able to find it somewhere.

RE: Hi.
Thanks. I found a tutorial which uses a gps 1_5 final release while hunting. So i think that did the trick. I noticed it added a lot of dockable dialog menus? It seems a bit confusing but i'll try to play around with it and see if i can get the hang of it.

Thanks again for the suggestions! Smile
