Help with lost layers...
I was recently working on a very important picture in GIMP (version 2.6.17) and while it was saving, it crashed on me. I opened the file in GIMP to check if it had saved properly and found that only 2 out of 14 layers were still on the .xcf file!

All I'm asking is if there's any way of getting the missing layers back? I don't feel like restarting since I had almost finished the picture and I just want the layers back, or at least most of them.

I have also checked the tmp folder and all the folders related to GIMP on my hard drive only to find most of them empty or not containing anything helpful. I have recovered unsaved files after a crash before (though I have forgotten how I did it), but this is new and I'm terrified of not being able to recover anything.

Can anyone help please?
