help with image quality....(gimp to scribus)
Hey guys,
Ive been using gimp for a while now for personal use and really enjoyed playing with all the features. Recently my daughter's school has asked me to do their yearbook. Its a small school and I didn't think this was going to be such a big undertaking since I have some background in graphic design. But I have run into a hiccup. So here is the problem. I am making mosaic style collages for the different activities pages. My original images were large, high quality photos. I Blocked out my grid and inserted pictures, and scaled them to the sizes I needed. I set the images to be 300(+, on some larger images) DPI for print size. The images look great in gimp, when I export them to scribus (where I am doing my desktop publishing portion of the book) they look awful! I have tried exporting in jpg, gif, tif,&pdf. I must be doing something wrong, or there is a much better way to do this that I dont know about yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!!

Check that they are set to 300 dpi in Scribus and not a lower dpi.

Also, have you tried .PNG yet?

I found here that progressive .pegs aren't exportable to scribus

If the images look smaller, also maybe check that your zoom in scribus is 100%

RE: help with image quality....(gimp to scribus)
By default, Scribus shows low res images on screen (but will print them at hight res).

In Scribus:
Item > Preview Settings > Full Resolution
should solve your problem.
