Help with Gimp & Gap please.
Ok i have been trying to make an av from a youtube video. Can't seem to do it or get any help. Can some one make me a tut please as of...

1. How to resize it.
2. How to add text.
3. How to add a border.
4. How to slow it down or speed up.
5. How to save it as a gif file. When I try it won't save as one.
6. Any any other details I may need to know.

I am asking all this again due to I have not used gimp nor gap in a few years. And I need a re-fresh.
Also I want to make sure I am opening gap right. This is how I am doing it.

1. Open Gimp
2. Go to video - split video in to frames then i'm lost from there.

Or should I be going to filters?

This is what I made before

Also there is this tut that showed you how to unlock the gimp (gimp pan panels) screen so when you close one screen it won't all shut down. Something like that it was a LONG time ago. I'm not new as I said I just have not used gimp in a few years. And the last one was a tut it tells you a few ways to add text to make it look better.

Can any one help me please I know it's a lot.

RE: Help with Gimp & Gap please.
This is quite a big subject & for me not so much to do with Gimp and GAP.

The YouTube downloader I have with firefox will save as either mp4 or flv format.
Just downloaded a cartoon as a test and it comes as 1.54 &-a-bit minutes @ 24 frames per sec or 2748 frames.

Just a question, would anyone use GAP for this quantity of frames?

What can you do with this mp4 video.

Sticking with what I know, it can be split into individual frames as images, or every 'x' frame using a command line application ffmpeg. So every 4th frame gets it down to 688 individual jpegs. Presumably these would import into GAP for editing.

Otherwise, there is a front-end for ffmpeg, Avidemux which will perform simple editing, resizing and format conversion.

Also as well as GAP which (I am told) saves to avi format, Imagemagick converts an animated gif straight to type1 mpeg video. The windows version of Imagemagic even comes with ffmpeg for the conversion.

Maybe start with Avidemux, if you use linux it will be in the repo, for Windows a good place to start is
