Gradient Problems

The gradient generates a rainbow instead of blending between two shades of blue. I realize this is happening because gimp is blending the two hues by adding colors from right all the way back to left instead of left to right.

My right endpoint hue is 250.

My left endpoint hue is 228.

Can anyone tell me why this gradient is blending incorrectly, and how to fix it?
