Good evening all
I've recently downloaded GIMP 2.8, and today got all 653 pages of the 2.6 manual. I'm overwhelmed, and will need a lot of help.

My main interest in learning to use GIMP is to help me prepare covers and illustrations for ebooks.

Regards, Alex

E-man, you seem to be a GIMP person. Is the attached doable in GIMP? Any help, guidance, path thru GIMP to be able to do this logo would be appreciated. Mike

RE: Good evening all
Welcome aboard, Alex. I too used Gimp to make a cover for an e-book. There's a picture of it in the Show Off section under a post called Wormhole. If there's anything about it that might help with your cover drop a line in somewhere.

RE: Good evening all
Thanks, caz. That's an impressive image.

I'm afraid I'm nowhere near as advance as that. For now all I want to do is to learn how to resize images - which I've done, and how to save them as jpgs or pngs with the minum kilobyte size - which I have no idea how to do.

Regards, Alex

RE: Good evening all
Thanks for you comment, Alex.

I'm fairly new to Gimp myself so I'm not sure how to save as a minimum kilobyte size, but to save a image as a jpeg click "save as" under the file tab, on the window that pops up there's a cross with "Select file type" written next to it at the bottom left hand corner, it's just above the help button. If you click the cross a load of different file types are displayed, then you just click the type of file you want. Hope this helps.
