Gimp works as photoshop
I've been using Gimp for a long time, but have never really spent enough time studying how to use it... I just made use of it for adjusting my photos, and a little bit of text layout and annotation of screenshots.
I want to get to know more about how it works and what I can do with it.what is the differnces between GImp,photoshop and corel draw.
Need urgent reply
Thanks

RE: Gimp works as photoshop
One feature that has kept me tied to Photoshop is the text tool. In Gimp it is -IMHO- hideous. So far I haven't been able how to apply simple effects like stroking, gradation, transparency and 3D appearance to a text layer; something that is quite easy and fairly intuitive in PS. Layer effects are still a nightmare to me.

In any case, I'm a true greenfoot to Gimp, having tried it many times, both in Windows as in Ubuntu, but never having insisted. The first two hours of frustration made uninstall it in past occasions. Now I've made the purpose of reading at least two books on it and see what it can do, and how. I don't want to return to Windows unless unavoidable. Ubuntu works like a charm to me but it seems there will never be a Photoshop version for it so now it's swim or sink with the Gimp. I suppose I should be able to stumble through the first mile.

Season's Greetings!

Jorge.
