Gimp wont recognize Service pack 3
I had to reinstall windows XP. I loaded all of the needed service packs.1,2 and3

I downloaded the newest Gimp version, and when I go to install it. I get a little window that says I need Service pack 3. ITS INSTALLED!

Before reinstalling XP I had Gimp installed and it worked fine

anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? or what the problem might be?

RE: Gimp wont recognize Service pack 3
I can not reproduce that. I have a (real) XPsp3 with Gimp 2.8.2 on it and a Virtual XPsp3 had Gimp 2.8.4 just reinsttalled that with Gimp 2.8.10 and all went ok.

Are you sure the SP3 installation completed properly. What does Control Panel -> System say?

Things you could try, maybe not much hope of success.
Try forcing a 32 bit install run the installer 2.8.10-setup.exe /32
Try an earlier version of Gimp maybe 2.8.4 from
ftp://ftp.gimp.org/pub/gimp/v2.8/windows/
Try Parthas 32 bit installer
http://www.partha.com/downloads/Gimp-2.8-10-32bit.exe

From memory, even a portable Gimp would not run in XPsp2, so the check must be built in. I would look again at that sp3 update.

Is it the same size as this
http://download.microsoft.com/download/d...86-ENU.exe 316 MB

You were right! what I thought were service packs were net framework. Apparently when I tried loading SP3 it left a ISO file. I had no idea what that was so I googled, I was supposed to burn it to disc.....Didnt have a disc so I found one that werent meant to burn

Anyway when I checked where you said, It was still service pack 2

160 updates from Microsoft, so it looks good

THANKS ALOT for pointing that out to Me....much appreciated
